Description

Purpose of the position

This position focuses on the expedient conception & development of innovative learning strategies in print, blended, and multimedia solutions for learning & development purposes. An Instructional Designer demonstrates experience and maturity in this discipline in developing all tiered products, either in rapid development authoring tools or in collaboration with Multimedia Developers, collaborating with SMEs on content accuracy, processes, and standards, and is responsible for reviewing all elemental components in the production cycle. In this position the instructional designer will analysis and design/prep-production tasks to gain experience in the learning design facets. An Instructional Designer will also independently drive small project initiatives to determine a learning solution and implement the strategy.

Core tasks and responsibilities

  • Works to design visually appealing interactive educational products.

  • Solves a variety of complex problems; exercises judgment based on the analysis of multiple sources of information

  • Understand the capabilities/limitations of the available authoring and development tools to help inform design solutions and the application of instructional strategies

  • Translate storyboard contents (audio narration, image assets, and action notes) into a properly executed multimedia build using the prescribed authoring tool

  • Stays current on latest advancements in multi-media art technology

  • Demonstrates expertise in own discipline and awareness of work in related areas

  • Provides technical guidance to colleagues or customers

  • Applies expertise relatively independently and guides more junior colleagues

  • Exchanges complex information such as advising internal and/or external clients on area of expertise

  • Negotiates resources within team and may negotiate across teams to agree common objectives

Training / Competencies

Experience

  • Helps to ensure the quality of the tasks and advice provided by self and others

  • Demonstrates understanding of how own area integrates within the wider Line of Business, Geography, or Enabling Function

  • Solves problems by identifying and selecting solutions using acquired technical expertise

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent.

  • Minimum 3 years of instructional design experience, including experience developing digital products

  • Mac skills and software should include the entire Adobe CC suite, including Premiere, After Effects, Illustrator, and Photos

  • Experience in project management in a multi-disciplined and commercial environment

  • Basic HTML and web skills essential.

  • Thorough understanding of information architecture principles and practices

  • Knowledge of Microsoft and Google business applications preferred.

  • Advanced knowledge of Learning Management Systems (LMS), Educational Management Systems, or Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems is preferred.

  • Familiarity with SAFe Agile principles
